Wish I could be at the protests.. 🇺🇸

Instead I am digitally here for you, always 💪 ❤️

@stux

I think people should protest, but you may want to be careful what is on your phone. As you may recall, I work for Meta. We're currently spying on people.

We are helping the government to identify people who were in the protest. We are currently helping identify people who want to protest. We are currently helping government agents know where and when protest may happen.

If you have any Facebook apps - Facebook Messenger, Facebook, WhatsApp, Threads, Instagram -- Uninstall the app.

@Linux They should for sure!

The more the better! As for the spying, I think I kinda knew that already in the back of my head and even worse

At this point the US gov is the enemy I think, nothing is safe anymore. Rather be sure

Luckily and unluckily i am in the Netherlands so kinda 'useless', but i can host platforms that cannot be touched by a corrupt gov like the US

The day I can send the US gov a big fat "FU" would be a good day

@stux

It is bad here. Big tech is not even trying to fight the government, and is volunteering willingly. It is all here for the taking.

I would suggest you register a NON - Us Domain Extension, meaning avoid Dot Com, Net, Org, Info, Us, and Edu. But that also means, word-based domain names such as Dot Social, which are managed by Us Corporations.

You're hosted overseas, which means your files and database are safe, but your domain name itself can still be pulled.
@Linux @stux (I understand if you don't have the answer, but)
Do you happen to know if the sponsoring company matters for TLDs? Like, if a domain is held by a UK based company, but sponsored by a US based company, would you be running into the same issue?
@klymilark @stux

If you registered the domain using a UK Domain Register, but the company managing the domain extension is US, then yes, that can be a problem.

In truth, pulling domain names is rare, and usually reserved for extreme cases. But also in truth, what is normal anymore?

The United States currently threatens its own allies, and when it comes to digital good, Donald Trump has already tried to tell Microsoft to pull Denmark's services (see URL, below). A domain name would be so much simpler.

I have been suggesting people who want to start a website, pick a country level domain name, outside Us Jurisdiction. Corporations can easily be bought, sold, and influenced. But governments, even when broke or broken, tend to claim onto their sovereignty, and so generally speaking, I would think can be safer to avoid Us influence.

Why Denmark is dumping Microsoft Office and Windows for LibreOffice and Linux

Before the Danish government announced its move, Denmark's largest cities, Copenhagen and Aarhus, had already announced plans to phase out Microsoft software and cloud services. Here's why.
