This is one of the best communicated responses I have ever seen against people trotting out "these are riots, not protests, look at the property destruction."

This is from a random post on /r/animeexpo.

You can find wisdom in the strangest places.

@distractal Wait, was this a reply to a post that is not included in the screenshot, where the particular poster supports the second amendment? Or is "Anime Expo" such a gun-shoot-y scene that one can just assume the "general you" supports the second amendment?
@dragonfrog The former. That post was deleted by a mod, it in turn was a response to someone saying "Protest, not riot" to correct the OP's caption that contained something like "LA riots"

@distractal

To expand on the 2A point, any serious exchange of gunfire is also likely to involve property damage and risk of injury or death to innocent bystanders, unless the confrontation occurs in remote Montana.

So "property damage is acceptable" is de facto built in to the 2A stance.

@distractal @caseyliss A great point. Also, remember that Rosa Park’s protest was peaceful but illegal. And Colin Kaeperkick’s protest was both peaceful and legal. Our current president decided that was too much, and many stated he should just play football.

The ultimate (and unfortunate) white privilege is dictating who is able to protest, how, and when.

@distractal The post fails with regard to 2nd Amendment and tyranny- 2nd Amendment has nothing at all to do with tyranny. It provides for citizen militias bearing arms to defend the state.
@distractal @kevinrj Yes, and, still, there must be no excuses for violence or property damage of any kind. Any such behavior just invalidates the reasons for our protests and plays right in to the hands of our authoritarian enemies who claim that crime rates are high, etc. Just say no to violence... That is all.
