Wish I could be at the protests.. 🇺🇸

Instead I am digitally here for you, always 💪 ❤️

@stux

I think people should protest, but you may want to be careful what is on your phone. As you may recall, I work for Meta. We're currently spying on people.

We are helping the government to identify people who were in the protest. We are currently helping identify people who want to protest. We are currently helping government agents know where and when protest may happen.

If you have any Facebook apps - Facebook Messenger, Facebook, WhatsApp, Threads, Instagram -- Uninstall the app.
@Linux @stux this could be the wildest take you've ever heard, but: quit your f*cking job at meta

I am often told this, but I honestly would not know what else I would do.

44 years old, and I have no verifiable work history, beyond Meta, since every place I used to work at no longer exist. That would be hard for someone, young, in this economy, but even harder for someone as they got older.

The pay is not great (not bad, but not great), and the hours are sometimes insane, but I try to take comfort that the benefits are OK, and in the fact that at least I can try to warn some people what is going on.
@Linux @stux warnings are good and all, but I've just turned 40, and I'm always on the look-out for something new. I haven't found it, but I'm sure at some point I will. Doesn't matter how old you are, you can't just give up and be like "Well this is the rest of my life." Screw that

The thing is, though, you know yourself that Meta is evil, I know they're evil. They recently randomly deleted my years-old account without any given reason. Meta doesn't care about people, it cares about its bottom-line, it cares about surveillance and aiding an abetting a fascist regime.

Whatever it is you do for that company, I'm sure there's another company that also has roles that do the same thing, or heck, maybe it's time for something new, I dunno. I've been working retail my whole life and I'm tired of it. I don't want this for the rest of my life. And I know, that as long as I don't give up, I can keep the hope alive that something new is right around the corner, and eventually I'll find it

@Linux

I understand that leaving isn't easy. If you can't leave, maybe you can poison their data, sabotage their systems, just do everything slow. It's all resistance.
