You say that like Trump cares about the law or will listen to the supreme Court in the unlikely event that they agree to hear this case before he’s dead or that they rule against him. The evil rapist has been ignoring the law a long long time.
In a different article it says that he would use the Insurrection Act of 1807 so somebody cares about the law of the appearance. They’ve already listened to rulings from the courts, albeit slowly and impartially.
There’s a huge difference between respect for the law and cherry picking laws, taking them out of context and quoting them to the media. Trump does the latter, and threatens courts of law that do the former.

I honestly hope this is the case, that would clearly be the best possibly outcome.
Revolution can also be slow, especially when it comes to tech oligarchs helping to enable to current administration, they can easily help obfuscate the narrative.
Remember this, everyone. The Boston Massacre was the day that “laid the foundation for Independence.”

Because they were a mob, and they had every reason to be a mob. The soldiers, in turn, had genuine reason to be afraid for their lives, and there was no proof that six of those eight soldiers killed anyone that day.
Those were the arguments that a founding father and future President made in a court of law.
Even the enemy is human, and deserves a fair chance. That is what due process is. That is what justice is. That is one of the many great ideals that founded this country, and it is being ground into dust beneath the boots of Fascism.

Oh, that happened the instant the SCOTUS declared the president above the law and Biden didn’t say “fuck you, idiots”, fire all the justices who ruled in favor of that decision at gunpoint, appoint all new justices in their place, and then declare that ruling void by fiat. If you’re about to say “the president can’t do that”, the SCOTUS declared the president above the law, he actually can.
It was really hard to watch. SCOTUS created this monster executive with unlimited and almost unchecked powers, Biden declared that Trump was a danger to democracy itself, and then... crickets. It was heart-breaking that he didn't even try to curb the limits of power of the Presidency by doing something SCOTUS was going to rule against, handing the next administration everything.
Well, to be fair, he did issue a bunch of flimsy ass pardons for his closest friends and family, he just didn’t do anything to help the rest of us.

Having seen a couple of vids from folks on the ground it seemed akin to a proper French riot. Folks lobbing bricks, makeshift barricades, vehicles burning etc.
Yeah folks may feel justified an upset but it isn’t exactly surprising when authorities crack down to restore order in such a situation.
Restore order? Those who caused disorder cannot “restore order” by causing more disorder.
Sure they can, that’s called a revolution - in that case those who caused the disorder get called “heroes” and “freedom fighters”.
If they get smushed by the current authorities coming back in force, then they get written into the history books as “rebels” or “insurrectionists”.

The point I was making, is that bringing in cops and the national guard to beat protesters does not restore order to a crisis caused by ICE kidnapping people. It is an escalation that will very likely be matched if CA hasn’t totally forgotten their past. Which they haven’t.
Read up on the '92 LA riots. Do you think US authorities are willing to use more, or less force today than then? Do you think LA civilians today have a larger, or lesser capacity for violence?
Thankfully I don’t think US authorities are anywhere close to PRC or Russia levels of force usage against civilians, but I would bet on the badges coming out on top if it came to a chicken race. That’s not to say it wouldn’t get ugly.

The US is only trying to end Habeas Corpus, cracking down on free speech, personal and social freedoms, deploying military units in the streets, planting secret police in protests, and is currently kidnapping, disappearing, and sending people to foreign labor camps without trial while wearing masks and not giving any identifiable information… All while supporting and funding an ongoing internationally-recognized genocide.

How do you mean? Most authoritarian regimes are maintained with fear and violence. Even in democratic states that don’t primarily rule through fear the government generally has a monopoly on using violence to enforce the law.
