its so hard to book good hotels when you are only 18

i was wondering why you need to be 21 to check-in in a lot of places, but i realized it is probably mainly because of the mini bar

@micr0 Me: Why would that be ...

Also me: ... Oh, USA, right

@pavel ikr, istfg the us is gonna drive me crazy, and also honestly a US citezenship (which i have) is a curse in disguise, even if i were to lets say, move to a diffrent country, for example in the EU and get a job... I would STILL need to pay income tax to the US goverment

@micr0 ... but

And hear me out

Cheap beer and drinking age at 18!

@micr0 @pavel A friend of mine had the audacity of being born in the US. She lived there for maybe a few years, without memories of that time, and still has to pay tax. It's ridiculous.

@mahryekuh @micr0 My friend actually has double citizenship: Czech and USA, because he lived in US for around 20 years.

However he still works for US company, so him paying US income tax was not that surprising for me.

But this is indeed ridiculous

@pavel @mahryekuh okay what the fuck, small side note:

i just read that to nullify your US citizenship you need to pay $2,350 (one of the highest renunciation fees in the world) and then also pay an "exit tax" which is an extra tax on all of your income you got while you were a citizen??

that is fucking insane... what have i gotten my self into lmfao

@micr0 @mahryekuh *freedom noises intensifies*
@mahryekuh @pavel yeah it truly is, i moved here at a young age and became a citizen through a long and tedious process, and tbh its better than my citizenship that i had before, but its definitely not ideal especially if i wanna move somewhere else in the world...
