@dimillian if it were up to me I’d progressively blur to a much smaller radius, but then apply a subtle gradient to darken the content behind the status bar. That’s what I use in my app and that’s how Apple does it in Photos. The floating tab bar imo looks too much, it needs to be dialed back with the hard shadow and embossing all around. Perhaps a simple 1px border would be better.
