One of the intriguing outcomes of commerce over the internet, is that it enables one to bypass the huge monopolistic distribution channels (such as music companies and book publishers) and buy things directly from the creators. But this doesn't just apply to the arts, but things like yarn and... dried fruit. Right now I'm in the midst of putting in an order with a company in #Tasmania who manufacture #FreezeDriedFruit. Direct from the producers.
Some interesting knock-on effects; I watched a video by an Aussie yarn store owner, and she asserted that she had talked to every single yarn mill in Australia and none of them were willing to enter into "white label" reselling agreements. (That is where someone buys wholesale from the manufacturer and *puts their own label* on the item.) And why should they? There is no advantage to them, because they already have a way to sell their product, they don't need to use someone else as a distributor.
