Zagori is famous for arched stone bridges built by local craftsmen in the 18th-19th centuries. First stop was Noutsou or Kokkorou/ Kokkoris Bridge (after original & subsequent sponsors), one of the most famous single-arch bridges, built in 1750 across Vikos River (๐ท1). From here walked downriver in Vikos Gorge to Misios/ Misiou Bridge, built in 1748 & double-archedโmain & smaller โreliefโ (๐ท2). To our surprise, the river was missing a key element (๐ท3). Kalogeriko or Plakidas Bridge is a triple-arch bridge, built in c. 1814 to provide access to a vanished watermill & renovated in 1866 by another sponsor (๐ท4).
