Pedantic PSA: the plural of "clitoris" is "clitorises". You can, if you're being really pedantic on Greek derivations, say "clitorides", but that tends to look like you've made a typo.

"Clitori" is never correct.

The etymology of "clitoris" is actually pretty unclear, and could have origins in any of the following:
-a little hill (noun)
-key (noun)
-to tickle (verb)
-hook (noun)
-to latch (verb)
-to sheathe (noun)

This is because there's kind of a lot of similar-sounding Ancient Greek words which are plausible.

@vagina_museum I'm pretty sure it's because they were first discovered in ClitHeroe
@vagina_museum ok, what if, and hear me out (lol), It actually did start out meaning the clitoris anatomy and early men(being guys) jokingly named hills, and keys, and hooks, and other things after it. It got stuck in the language and survived to modern Day. Good Enough doesn't have to make sense 😅
