I wish there were some way to get a second opinion from a dentist who has never seen me before, because it feels like "we can't find anything that would be causing problems so I guess you just have to suffer" doesn't feel like something I should have to just accept

but this is america, so I guess I deserve it

last time this happened I had to get a root canal, so like, I REALLY DO NOT TRUST THEM when they say there's "nothing wrong"

@juliamon egads yeah that's not an acceptable denial. The last time I had a visit that bad was at a dental college where, I swear, the dentist just wanted an excuse for a major operation.

I did go to a different dentist in the community with an infinitely better experience. I called the insurance line, told them I was unsatisfied with the visit and wanted a second opinion at a different practice. That was with decent insurance coverage and a small city with many dental practices though.

@zougar yeah I wish that were an option, but Medicaid didn't even pay for regular 6-month checkups until like a year ago, so that's the level of insurance I'm dealing with. (And won't pay for root canals, so they have no reason to care if it comes to that.)
