@gmarcosanti @MrLovenstein I think most TVs have some basic volume normalization options? I've seen stuff that could help with this even on my 10+ year old TVs. But the real problem is normally with a movie you want full dynamics. Just sometimes the sound engineers don't get it...

@MrLovenstein A common cause for this is when an originally surround audio track is downmixed to stereo. If your playback device has an option to increase the volume for "downmix: center mix level", that might do wonders. It increases volume for front center before downmixing, because that's where dialogue is, as opposed to side / back which have effects.

If downmix is being done at the source, you're out of luck though.
