Signal blog on Windows Recall 😆

@gamingonlinux Who even asked for this stupid Recall function anyway? Microsoft should fix their absolutely moronic Start menu first. It has been hot garbage since beginning of time.

@gamingonlinux

"If you attempt to take a screenshot of Signal Desktop when screen security is enabled, nothing will appear. This limitation can be frustrating, but it might look familiar to you if you’ve ever had the audacity to try and take a screenshot of a movie or TV show on Windows. According to Microsoft’s official developer documentation, setting the correct Digital Rights Management (DRM) flag on the application window will ensure that “content won’t show up in Recall or any other screenshot application.” So that’s exactly what Signal Desktop is now doing on Windows 11 by default."

Hilarious

@gamingonlinux "Low-parameter" is such a sick burn. I'm making a mental note to use that the next time I need to deride a customer service "agent" to get through a service-now triage.

@gamingonlinux I will have to think about how to de-microsoft our infrastructure, that includes using Office, but... well.. that's a really hard one.

I'm disturbed that when I demonstrate the danger of "AI" to many people they literally don't see the issue. It's like its so normalised that they just have no idea what autonomy is anymore.

@gamingonlinux did Microsoft add it back or something? if so, can i get rid of it?
@gamingonlinux I particularly love how the work-around is not "enable the OS-level user privacy flag that was of course definitely implemented along with Recall" and instead "enable the OS-level intellectual property enforcement flag because we cannot allow the user to upset corporations' feelings"
@gamingonlinux @eniko Nah, Recall is the result of someone scrolling on twitter or facebook, seeing something of vague interest just leave the screen, scrolling back to see it, but it’s gone forever.
