It seems that SCIPOST is struggling financially, despite having huge levels of sponsorship income.

It seems each published article costs them €500. Could they switch to an arXiv overlay model like @ojastro.bsky.social to save over 90% of their cost?

Perhaps a fairer statement would have been "struggling financially because sponsorships don't match their level of activity"?

Perhaps also "switch to an arXiv overlay model and abandon their independent open infrastructure, open refereeing, recognized metadata facilities and uniquely complete and transparent financial information systems"?

@jscaux fair points about open peer review, etc, but I'm not sure I know what you mean by "recognized metadata facilities".
