Creating a 5-second AI video is like running a microwave for an hour

"This report arrives at a time in which people are using generative AI for absolutely everything. Google announced at its annual I/O event that it's leaning into AI with fervor. Google Search, Gmail, Docs, and Meet are all seeing AI integrations. People are using AI to lead job interviews, create deepfakes of OnlyFans models, and cheat in college."

New MIT report reveals energy costs of AI tools like ChatGPT

That's a long time in the microwave.

Sorry if I doubt that. I have created several videos using a local AI (that means the model is on my computer and my computer does all the work, no internet connection required ) and I can see how much energy is consumed. I guess that if we want to discuss AI we should stick to the facts. A 5 sec file (720 x something) takes less than an hour and my graphics card has a maximum consumption of 380 W. I would assume that little people use their microwaves with less than 600 W.
