@aral Right---privacy is not some academic curiosity in desperate need of debate and clarification. It is a pressing, immediate real-world problem that everyone understands in a practical way.

So what effect is w3c having in practice on privacy on the web? Who supports w3C, and what does that means in practice? That is is all anyone should pay attention to, not whether hypocrites are getting their statement of "principles" just right.
