Pay with Apple Tag - Lemmy.World

So the title is pretty straightforward, if nfc is used on Apple tags in theory is it possible to modify and use my Apple tags as payment where nfc is accepted. The tags have to have both a bidirectional communication channel! I’m not a fan of having my phone on me all the time so the tags would be an ease!

If you mean those find-me gizmos, they are bluetooth, not NFC.

Some of them are a combo of Bluetooth and NFC.

Still a bad idea. The phone in a tap-to-pay situation isn’t just a dumb, static signal sender. It’s authenticating and ensuring no spam or other corruption get into the transaction.

Versus an air tag or whatever, which would just be spilling out credit card details to anything that would listen.

lol, not trying to be one of those persons, just trying to be minimal. There was a hack I saw someone do with their metro card, they cut it around so it’s like a rewards card and placed on their keychain to tap into the trains.

Melt your bank card in acetone. Carefully remove the chip and copper antenna. Place in small mould, fill with resin. Bobby Fingers (YouTuber) did this for a one-eyed friend so he could pay with his eyeball… Consider an rfid blocking case.
