Yesterday was bitter sweet. I spent the morning gathering documents and other items needed for trading in a couple of #motorcycles that may happen today. I currently have 2, a traditional gas model (#HarleyDavidsion Road Glide) and an electric one (Harley-Davidson LiveWire). (1/4)

@DrewCommins
I was surprised when HD did the livewire just because, well it's HD and as you mention their customer base tend look backward rather than forward. I can remember the horrified reactions when the V-Rod was first released, so electric was definitely pushing it.

Unfortunately I suspect "Long Way Up" didn't help with the perception that Charlie and Ewan had to be followed around by a lorry carrying generator at times.

Shame as the concept was good and the bike well executed.

@pistonblown I'm all about cutting edge technology so it hit so many buttons for me. Even though they took 4 years to bring the LW to the showroom floors, it still had problems. It looked good, sounded great and felt like you were riding a rocket but that wasn't enough to justify 30K+ for their target market.

@DrewCommins
Can-am have been promising an electric version of their Spyder for at least 10 years so 4 years is fast in comparison. Their two electric motorbikes have also been almost released for quite some time now as well.

I don't think the LiveWire ever made it to New Zealand, certainly I've never seen one in the flesh.

The question now is, are you trading it in for another bike and if so what?

@pistonblown I traded it and my other one, a 2017 Road Glide, for a 2025 Fat Boy.
@DrewCommins I particularly like the front end on that, mind you I also like how the rear rim seems to float above the hub from this side.
@pistonblown It definitely lives up to its name...very beefy. And in Sport mode, it'll kick your head back. I'm still in the 500 mile break-in period so I'm being a bit tame with it but I blipped the throttle on a straight away and it didn't disappoint.
