I think that there is a rule similar to switch hitters (once they step in the box they have to hit from that side for the entire AB) that once pitchers throw to a batter, they have to keep that hand for the AB.

@angela_underscore yep, he can’t change it during an AB. I don’t remember who has to pick first when he faces a switch hitter though.

Not that matters today since I don’t think the C’s have any

Apparently a minor league pitcher and batter spent ten minutes switching back and forth. Which led to “the “Pat Venditte Rule,” OBR 5.07(f) requires an ambidextrous pitcher to choose a side before the batter steps to the plate.”
