Ok this is reductive cause I wanted to be a bit funny with it, he didn't outright suggest privatizing education, but he did talk about bringing in private contractors into the educational system because "the state education system has failed"

So sure, he's not proposing the whole thing, but he's proposing making the first steps in that direction 😬

To clarify this further, he identified the problem correctly - the education system does suck, and it sucks because most of the competent people left years/decades ago, due to low wages and shit working conditions. It's just that the solution is funding education, improving conditions, and fighting corruption, but that would be "government bloat" which like two thirds of his supporter base hate cause they're neoliberal/libertarian corpos

@hazelnot this is the evil in the phrase lesser evil when it comes to this election unfortunately... i think it's part of the culture clash between well off people who managed to thrive in corpos, and... everyone else e.g the elderly and decreței who remember pre 89 and "how they sold/privatized everything," the poor, rural communities etc.

@hazelnot absolutely, I'll count my blessings if these are the issues we'll have to deal with after tomorrow. i keep saying this, ffs we need at least 1 (one) *actually* left wing party. hope stuff like SENS gets bigger :(

@isopropyl There are SENS and DEMOS, so we have at least two of them... it's just that they're really small and a lot of their voter base voted with USR cause "tactical voting" :<

Also can you please stop removing the CW on every reply? It gets really frustrating having to add it back manually every time 💀

@isopropyl oh weird, when I reply to a CW'd post the CW gets automatically copied to my reply, I thought that was just the default way things work so I assumed you were manually removing it from yours o.o

Maybe it's just a shit .social config that disables this? 😭

I know Gargron actually hates CWs cause "muh engagement" 💀
