UPDATE: Nine. 9 countries. Sweden passed the threshold *while I was writing that last post*.

The "end of the collection period" is May 17 (so seven hours from now… plus 24 if the person who told me it's *EOD* May 17 is correct) so if you're an EU national you can still vote to run up the numbers and convince EU Parliament you're serious. Also:

- If 4,343 Italians sign, it's ten countries endorsing
- 5,308 Austrians makes it eleven
- 6,794 from Portugal makes it twelve

ANOTHER UPDATE: About three minutes ago on the website, France literally hit 1000% support for the anti-"Conversion Therapy" initiative. France really showed up here, with ten times the threshold support FR is literally half the supporters on this initiative. Apparently the people of France really, REALLY don't want their trans friends medically tortured

There are ~7 hours left in the EU citizens initiative ( https://eci.ec.europa.eu/043/public/#/screen/home ) asking the EU parliament to ban "conversion therapy" (pseudo-medical efforts to "cure" queers). It's at 1.2 million votes over 1 million; surplus votes are good because some votes may be disqualified, so EU nationals, it's still worth voting!

One thing I notice, it looks like DENMARK and CROATIA are *so* close to passing— under 1000 votes each. Does anyone here know how to inject a message in the Danish internet?

@nononymous @fox on my phone I can get the map by tapping the menu in my browser and selecting "request desktop site". Then just tapping the countries gives me stats.

@mcc And Italy hit the threshold as well now. So it’s now nine countries. And it’s a good chunk above the required million votes. If this keeps up and there are indeed 24 more hours to go, this initiative might hit 2 million votes.

@mcc tbf it's not over yet, since there need to be 1 million *valid* signatures, and the validation happens later. Some number will be invalidated, which means that more are likely still necessary. We should keep going until the very end and push well past 1 mil (I guess past 1 mil 20k last I checked).

@worr The webpage emphasizes this is online signatures. Will there be additional signatures collected through a separate process offline?

@mcc I don't think so, what I meant is that they go through and invalidate signatures that appear fraudulent for whatever reason.

@worr Right, I just wondered if there could (hypothetically) be a situation where they get 1,100,000 online signatures and 100,000 get invalidated but then separately they collect 100,001 signatures offline.
