My old keyboard had an issue where spaces stopped being detected now and then. No obvious wear or tear, and the keyboard was only 5 years old.

Then yesterday the space bar suddenly broke. No prior visible cracks, no loud snap. Just suddenly two pieces.

So what do I do? Glue it? Glue and reinforce? ....

No, like a dumb consumer I take this as the change to upgrade to a keyboard which does not hang a third of the time on power up. No more keyboard power cycles when switching between two devices.

I unpack the new keyboard... and it came with two space bars.

One with a Ducky logo (the brand of the new keyboard), and a boring black one which just happens to fit on the old keyboard. So now I am washing keycaps and taking a dentist pick and a vacuum cleaner to the old keyboard.
