It has been 40 years since Philly Police dropped a BOMB on a black liberation group killing 11 people including 5 children. 61 homes were destroyed. Just last year they finally returned the bones of one of the children.

This is what cops did. Just 40 years ago and so little has changed
Also curious how Waco and Ruby Ridge is so well known but MOVE? I didn't learn about it until I was far too old.
We all know that if these had been white people the story would have been far different.
Waco was a 51 day long siege. MOVE wasn't even 12 hours
@whiskeysailor I can never seem to recall the name but aye, "the Philly police literally bombed an entire block to get to some black activists in the 80s" is always a go-to event to point out why ACAB.
@Andrea @whiskeysailor we grew up in a Philly suburb and read the newspaper regularly and never heard about the MOVE bombing until, like, thirty years later. so to us it really drove home not only the lengths statists will go to to suppress dissent, but how even the worst atrocities get barely any public attention.
@Andrea @whiskeysailor "statist" may not be quite the right term here, but it's what we've got right now
@Andrea @whiskeysailor @ireneista I remember finding out about the MOVE bombing from national news at the time, but the coverage was cop-friendly.

@whiskeysailor I remember when it was in the news... But yeah, since then it doesn't seem to be mentioned much.

Almost as if....

Naaaaaaaah I'm sure the news media care just as much about Black people as they do white people.

@whiskeysailor Best part was how the pigs physically prevented the fire department from putting out the fire and keeping it from spreading across the whole block.
