Due to a congenital condition, I'm 5'7" with size 15 wide feet and giant hands. My friends call me a walking L - Lemmings.world

So, I’m a pretty average-height guy—5’7”. Not tall, not short, just… there. My feet, however, did not get the memo. They are gigantic. Size 15. Which means I leave footprints that suggest someone much larger (or possibly Bigfoot) passed through, got spooked, and took off running. People always comment. First, the double-take. Then: “Whoa. Those are… big.” And finally, the classic: “How do you even find shoes?” Badly. That’s how. Shoe shopping for me is like searching for an ancient artifact. Store clerks disappear into the back, only to return shaking their heads, as if I’d asked for a unicorn saddle. “We might have one pair in the back…” And what they bring out is always tragic—some orthopedic dad sneaker the size of a small canoe, usually in a shade best described as “beige disappointment.” For a while, I tried to hide it. I slouched. I crammed my toes into size 13s like a Victorian woman chasing a terrible beauty standard. I even considered custom shoes—until I saw the price and briefly thought maybe barefoot life isn’t so bad. But now? I’ve embraced it. I don’t tip over easily. I get extra legroom on buses just by existing. And when people ask about my shoe size, I just smile and say, “Great for swimming.”

Your attitude is a step in the right direction 👍
Back when I was a teenager there used to be some schoolyard folklore that feet size was related to dick length (being half as long as your feet). Anyway congrats on that waterhose, king!
Ha I’ll take it! Thanks fellow king!
What, you’re telling me it’s not?

Dick length somewhat correlates to height which correlates with big feet. OTOH, I’m 2-inches shorter and longer than average. Go figure.

Stretch you thumb and forefinger as far apart as you can. Measure. Report back. Mine’s on the money.

Flexibility probably plays a role. I have Ehlers danlos and I get a 180 degree angle on that joint. I don’t have a dick, so I can’t report back, but my gap is over ten inches and I have to imagine I’d have longer fingers if I’d been born a dude (men are generally less flexible, but can still get EDS).
my sister has size 13 shoes. Sorry to break the news 😔

You should see the size of his…

Socks, is what I always say!

Have you ever considered taking up martial arts and fighting Sun Wukong?

In all seriousness, I have very wide feet and also cannot purchase shoes in store, but I found a manufacturer that sells extra, extra wide shoes and I just buy directly from them.

Haha I did do karate as a kid but maybe should get back into it. I only wore size 12s back then! What is this manufacturer? I’m a 16 EEEE US.
New Balance, and a quick search of their website shows they have like 24 options in your size. I’m only slightly salty that I only get 6 options in my size and width.
Would you mind sharing that shoe brand? I’m currently on the edge of investing in custom shoes because I can’t find good quality shoes in my width.
Is it true what they say?
Basically, Russell Wilson.
Has an old man encouraged you to take a ring to Mordor?
He’s a true giant among the Shire folk.
Your hands look normal to me
Yes maybe not as noticeably disproportionate but still insanely big for my height to the point where hand shakes are awkward
Those are longest centimeters I have ever seen
Unicorn saddles are the same as regular horses saddles.
Maybe think about picking up competitive swimming? I’ve heard that Michael Phelps had above average hand/feet sizes and that really helped him swim faster.

bet you can play Rachmaninov without aid

I’d love to see a short video of you walking normally. I feel like it’d be awkward but for some reason. Also running. Idk why I’m just curious.

Get this man some comfortable shoes, oversized zippers, a magical duck, a strong but dumb dog, and a keyblade!

For real though that’s quite a unique trait, thanks for sharing with us. Your attitude about what makes you different says you’re a pretty cool guy. :)

When you can’t reach a tall cabinet do you get a step ladder or find that standing on your toes usually solves it?
That’s a good question!
Literally the first thing I thought of, does this make me the bad person?
Maybe you’re an elf, ever tried walking on snow?
5’7" is shorter than average, but those hands and feet are so impressive I’ll still let you into my Tall Guys club
Honestly I feel like everything would balance out if your legs were just longer.
I’m about 90% sure this picture and story has been posted on lemmy before
Yeah its the same person from looking through their post history briefly

Really? His account is 2 months old and this is his first actual post, unless he switched accounts recently or I just can’t see the full history from my instance for some reason

I don’t even know why someone would do that, but it’s just striking me as weird

Yeah but looking at his comment history, I saw a series of replies to a post about his feet from a couple of months ago. Where he was the OP and the post was deleted.
He deleted the first post, so his account activity is the same post twice with two months in-between
Oh goody. A reposter who possibly upvotes themselves.
They’ve only posted this thing twice two months apart, no other activity on their account
Yeah it has. Though, not sure if it’s the same exact picture. If it is, could be OP stole it from the original post. Maybe actual OP created a new account and reposted this.
Also, reddit a long while back.
LLM training, I’m sure there’s a shit ton of it happening on Lemmy as they don’t need to ask for permission and I keep seeing posts about things that will for sure generate engagement and that gets deleted 24h later. I even called out the OP every now and then, every time they swear that’s not what it is, every time the post and account are deleted 24h later.
It has. And iirc, someone found evidence it wasn’t the actual person at all, which makes this post incredibly unlikely to be real

This and the guy with the small feet. I can’t tell if I just browse Lemmy too much but I swear I’ve seen their posts no less than 4 times reposted.

But I never see anyone say anything about having seen them before.

At 6’5" and size 18 wide feet, I fell your pain with finding shoes

You screwed up by not becoming a professional swimmer.

Also, is this an old repost from reddit, because I’ve seen this before? Or have you made the change to lemmy, abandoning that shit-stain of a site?

They use this same ratio for Fable NPCs

I would suggest that you meet up with the opposite guy over on reddit, but reddit mods gonna reddit mod :/

I’m pretty sure I saw this guy post on Lemmy twice.
we must track his footprints
And there was the same reply last time
There was one here recently I think?? Maybe it was Reddit but I recently got a total ban so I can’t check lol but I the person I responded to also said they were like 6 feet tall on top of having itty bitty feet and showed a photo of feet in shoes only so I told them I didn’t believe them. This is a more common lie than I expected lol

You just need the right super-hero suit and you’re set!

Yeah I wear size 49 and I completely get the pain of buying shoes. Nowhere to be found and sometimes barely fitting.
