i have made a gamedev.place account that i will be migrating to in the near future: @eniko

if you want to be sure nothing goes wrong in the migration be sure to follow it

edit: nothing bad is going on, pmg has stability issues i can no longer tolerate

@eniko has their code of conduct gotten any better? I was on there and remember a talk about gamedev and related stuff only keep the personal stuff to a minimum and that's one of the reasons why I came here.
@gord i see gamedev.place accounts talk about personal stuff a lot so i assume it must be ok
@eniko Humm... maybe I will join you...
@gord actually i guess we can just ask @TomF what his experience has been

@eniko @gord @TomF The guidelines used to be a bit more strict, but currently they are:
"Our expectation is that people on this instance are game developers or somehow related to that field. So you can probably expect a lot of the local timeline to be about topics related to games, such as art, design, production, prototyping, development, media and culture, shipping, etc. Writing about other things is fine too!"

So all good. Aras (the admin) posts pics of his dog. :)

@eniko @gord I've been on here for 8 years, so far the only issue I have is 500 characters per post can be a little limiting at times. But otherwise it's all been pretty smooth sailing.
I just feel guilty if I post large binaries (vids or pics) so I try to compress them a bit better. :)
@kojack @gord yeah im gonna miss 1024 chars :(
@eniko @kojack What's the video upload max? I think it's 15mb here, which is... tight!
@gord @eniko I just tried adding a 36MB video. It uploaded fine, but I didn't hit post to fully test.
@kojack @gord @eniko I often upload stuff up to 100mb, seems to work great (and upload speeds are order of magnitude higher than most other social media)

@eniko @gord It wouldn't be as bad if Mastodon had multiple post at once authoring like twitter. Otherwise I feel like I have to rush to write followups before somebody replies. :)

Hmm, limits... I'm not sure where that is listed.

@kojack @gord i was gonna say it does have that but apparently thats a glitch social thing
@eniko @gord I just use the standard bare web client. :)
@kojack @gord oh glitch is like, a mastodon fork so it's like mastodon + some extra features, even in the web client
@eniko @kojack @gord Yeah the character limit is the biggest thing I miss after leaving PMG too. 1024 was pretty sweet
