That’s exactly what they did in 2021. Biden appointed a Republican, Merrick Garland, as his attorney general. And Garland sat on his ass for two years without bringing any charges. Only when they were shamed into it by House committee investigations did they actually start to move. By then, it was too late. Trump ran out the clock. They prosecuted Trump to appease the base, but they did so late enough that Trump stood no chance of conviction before the election.
see the thing though is that “all this” in the meme is very vague. it could mean a full-on cultural revolution, one where democrats and republicans alike do not exist anymore. I don’t think people are really wanting to go back to the status quo, not really. it’s obvious infinitely better than christofascism, but people want meaningful change. probably a big reason why Kamala Harris was not so popular, even though I voted for her

That’s a lot of people - they just want things to be quiet and easy for them, and if there’s injustice for others they’ll just have to live with it.
