After decades of debate, the Market announced a test run of a ban on cars not needed for deliveries, emergencies, some customer pickups, and cars with disability parking permits. The vehicle restriction marks a new era for the century-old institution, following the opening of several new and revitalized public areas local leaders hope will make the neighborhood more connected than ever — and more inviting to the local residents. #seattle https://www.cascadepbs.org/politics/2025/05/vastly-more-walkable-seattles-pike-place-market-tests-car-ban

@cascadepbs About time. I remember getting stuck in backed-up traffic at the Seattle market in the 1980s. Ridiculous to have passenger cars through there.
@cascadepbs @mlanger This is more a service for clueless drivers than pedestrians… woe unto any car turning into the Market during business hours anyway.
