A great pity the Camogie Association had to be forced into this, but good that there's a special congress being called. https://www.rte.ie/sport/camogie/2025/0508/1511680-special-congress-called-to-vote-on-camogie-skorts-issue/ I, like many people in Ireland I reckon, wasn't aware of this, but it's clearly bad and needs to change. All power to the players who took and are taking direct action.

@natural20 If you think the skorts are bad, wait until your hear about the match durations and pitch sizes being shorter/smaller than hurling, which women aren't permitted to play.

@clickhere I will admit the fact there are two "different" sports on gender lines with sticks I have never understood, but ye gods, yes, that just makes it worse.

@natural20 And (iirc) similar differences exist in Gaelic men's v. women's football.

There are just so many reasons why Gaelic games leave me deadeningly COLD, every time.

* shudder *

@clickhere I will admit, as I mentioned, I don't pay a huge amount of attention to the details, but enjoy the odd game. But the endemic continued belief in some quarters that surely most sports are for men and fine, if we *have* to let women play we'll make it as awful as possible is just... shite.
