It really is amazing to me how completely the Battlestar Galactica reboot has erased all memory of the original from cultural awareness.

Not that the original was timeless like Star Wars or fine tuned to culture the way Star Trek was. But it was an important milestone for its time.

@mchesner I saw the original Battlestar Galactica in the movie theatres in 1978. To me, it was as big as Star Wars (at the time). Of course, I watched all the TV series as well. I never really liked the reboot (I tried watching it) but I've heard good things about it. I should give it another shot. However, to me, BSG will always be the original series.

@cturnbow @VA3DSO No disrespect intended to the reboot, either. I’m just amazed the original got so completely wiped away from public consciousness.

For an analogy, I love the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, but they don’t erase what Tobey Maguire did.

Well - I have seen a few of the Tom Holland ones, but none of the Maquire ones, so I don't get an opinion there :)
