This is pretty big news in women’s sports on a few levels:

“London City Lionesses have won promotion to the Women’s Super League (WSL) for the first time.
London City, owned by Washington Spirit and Lyon Feminin owner Michele Kang, will be the only fully independent club in the 2025-26 WSL, with all 12 teams in this season’s top flight attached to a Premier League club.”

Goes to show what investment in women’s sports clubs can do. Unprecedented success thanks to a woman who knows what she’s doing. She puts more effort into quality than many rich mens’ sports clubs do for their women’s side.

Michele Kang’s London City Lionesses promoted to WSL for first time

The club secured their promotion after avoiding defeat against second-placed Birmingham City on the season's final day.

The Athletic

The WSL is about to have the most fashionable club owner grace their league but also they’ll see how a serious club owner does the job. Underestimate Y Michele Kang at your peril.

“The club made significant moves ahead of the 2024-25 season, appointing former Paris Saint-Germain boss Jocelyn Precheur as their new head coach and completing the ambitious signings of Sweden international Kosovare Asllani and forward Goodwin, the Championship’s top scorer from the previous campaign, who has led the league’s scoring charts again this term. They also announced the purchase of a new 23-acre training facility in June.”
