Electron acceleration with #nanophotonic structures: The goal are compact, low-cost laser-driven accelerators on a chip. A silicon chip with 42 structures (up to 733 elliptic pillars each) accelerated electrons from 28.4 keV to 40.7 keV by passing them through laser-illuminated pillar rows.
