last night i saw two moons

i was out smoking a cigarette and looked up at the moon, full, bright, and beautiful

above it, partially overlapping, was a second ghostly moon, craters and all, surrounded with a faint blue fringe reminiscent of chromatic aberration, absent from the real moon

i tried taking off my glasses, as well as covering each eye, but there was no change
i tilted my head and it moved

streetlights had ghosts as well, but everything else was normal

what did i experience? why?

i feel like i should say, this is not a riddle or a short story or something

it really did happen on a normal night where i was awake and completely sober, and i really would like to know if anyone has ideas how or why

so if you have answers i would love to hear them, and if you're inclined to boost the post feel free

@bea you should definitely get it checked out. A detached retina can look like this, and is usually harmless, but can get really bad especially if unmonitored.
@cosine i assume that would only show up in both eyes separately if both my retinas were detached?
@bea Hmm, now I'm out of my depth. All I know is my mom had one.
@cosine well if it puts you at ease at all, it has not happened since
@bea That's good, although from what I remember the "detachment event" is what mostly has visual stuff and after that its just chillin, but should still get checked out eventually. For detached retina. Good to see you back on this website btw.
@cosine yeah i'll get it looked at eventually. and thank you! it's been nice being back. a little weird after so long away, but not bad.
@bea Glad to hear. i've been on here about 3 minutes a week the whole time. The fourth minute gives you brainworms, so I find two minutes is ideal.
@cosine that's definitely the way to do it
