Middle child all riled up. Just went on a walk with sibling and some assholes were driving around town shouting racial slurs through a megaphone. Called the non-emergency line, told the story, got connected right to the state police and within moments they had a car there with sirens tracking them down. That's a good use for police and glad they took it seriously and were ON IT.

I clicked the little star for the response, but I'm so sorry it happened at all!
@IcooIey that’s awful! Good on middle child though and good on state police for taking it seriously. I hope they get the assholes.
@IcooIey Good for your child, and I am glad the police responded. How chilling, though, that we're at the stage where the racists are actually cruising around town, comfortably yelling racist slurs through an actual megaphone.
@CiaraNi
It’s a college town a very unusual occurrence, though general assholery isn’t uncommon. We think it was an attempt to start some kind of incident.
@IcooIey Here's hoping it remains an isolated incident, at least

@IcooIey

Is the sibling not all riled up, too?

@Badgardener
Yes and no. They are pretty unflappable and have a low opinion of most people anyway.

@IcooIey

Excellent parenting result. If they can also make pancakes, I'd even go for exceptional.

Racists have always done this - I remember National Front marches back in the 80s. The big difference is that the police were quite sympathetic to them back then. They'll crawl back under their rock when Trump falls apart.

@Badgardener
One can make good pancakes, the other has excellent burrito skills.

I think being a university town, the cops here are not going to put up with any inciting nonsense. Two years ago when the basketball team won the national championship there was a riot and the students did $600k damage. No one wants ANY thing that can set them off.
