First night of my Southern #MotoCamping trip. Camped right on the shore of the Kanawa River just outside of Point Pleasant, WV. Tomorrow morning after breaking camp I'll head into town to visit the #mothman statue and museum, then on to the Red River Gorge.
This campground was a good find. Nice and peaceful for the most part, and the owner is a nice guy. He was out fixing his cattle fence when I called but said to just set up and neehe would be along in a bit to collect the fee.
The dock is just down the back from where the tent is pitched. I'm the spirit of me being a cheapskate (and packing really light) tonight's meal was cooked on ye olde soda can stove.
The ride down here was epic. If you've never been to Ohio, let me tell you that the fun bits to drive or ride are all in the southern part of the state. Met my dad and grilled some steaks for brunch in Newcomerstown, then caught 93 South to 83 South. Both roads are nice and twisty, bordering on technical, but 83 is really quite epic.
The little bit of West Virginia I've been in so far doesn't disappoint, either. There's actually a good reason why the state slogan is "almost heaven". It's because when you're riding these hills you're one mistake from death!
