Yes, I too find the radical abstractions of modern UX Design (especially in Smartphones) very disturbing (and annoying as a 'techy' user), but I also think, that Usability and Knowledge of how something works, does not have to be mutually exclusive. I still think, that the fundamental approach of teaching technology to kids is flawed, as it mostly still consists of teaching the machinations of specific programs (e.g. MS Office) and not fundamental and abstract concepts of computers.
