Trump reverses Biden's Columbus Day proclamation

President Donald Trump says he is bringing back Columbus Day. The holiday was first designated by Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1934 and is celebrated the second Monday in October. President Joe Biden issued annual proclamations also designating it as Indigenous People's Day. Though it was still technically Columbus Day, Trump in a post on his Truth Social site Sunday said he'd only use the day's original name. The holiday was first designated partly to appeal to voters of Italian heritage and Trump said he was restoring the day partly for Italians.
