As you will recall, Private Equity giant KKR (they of Barbarians at the Gate fame), has become the preferred bidder for Thames Water.... and so keen are Thames Water to keep their cash cow out of the hands of the state they are paying a substantial proportion of the costs of the KKR team undertaking some extensive due diligence ahead of any formal bid.

No conflicts of interest there, I'm sure....

@ChrisMayLA6 This will end with tax payers having to settle the enormous debt a PE backed acquisition is highly likely to generate, won’t it? This should not be allowed to happen to a public service.

@alex_p_roe

Well, the (further) debt loaded onto TW will have to be serviced somehow - even higher bills most likely, I should think

@ChrisMayLA6 Higher bills are inevitable and those shareholders will still want to see eternal growth! Nationalising Thames Water now will likely save everyone a fortune! Pity those in government don’t see this, or do and think they can make a quick buck.
Petition: Take our trains into public ownership | We Own It

The government is taking railway operators into public ownership, but the trains themselves will remain in private hands. The government must take our trains into public ownership.

We Own It

@ChrisMayLA6

It's such a no-brainer to #NationaliseThamesWater that it's almost criminal to let this go on.
