But regardless of the energy source I think people are just not aware that these LLM tools require massive amounts of energy (mostly for training but also of course for inference). I really see tremendous potential that optimization algorithms and intelligent systems could help combat climate change… but this side of it makes me wonder if related technology will do exactly the opposite.
