I’ve gotten so fed up with how many people in my neighborhood blatantly park illegally. I’m talking across crosswalks, diagonally at the edge of an intersection “wrapping” the corner, in front of fire hydrants, etc… really basic shit.

On a walk today I saw three of these within a block and a half and actually took the time to download the 311 app and report them. Two out of three got citations, the other had moved their car before the parking officer arrived 4 hours later.

But the fact that two of them were parked illegally for at least four hours really underscores how bad it is and how utterly lax enforcement has gotten. Come to think of it, apart from street sweeping, I can’t recall the last time I saw a parking enforcement officer patrol in my neighborhood.

The city should give citizens that report citation worthy things a commission each time they successfully issue one. We’re literally doing the city’s job for them, and making our streets safer, we deserve some recognition.
