You don't need to know the chemical synthesis of ethers to realize when you're being duped by rich assholes lying about climate change. The prevalance of wilfull ignorance is caused by unfettered propaganda, and totalitarian control of children. Not by lack of schooling. A kid could attend not one day of school in his young life and he won't be a flat earther as soon as you point out how ships go down over the horizon. But threaten him with hellfire and damnation, and tell him he's a piece of shit who doesn't deserve to judge things for himself, and he'll cling to the bible you shackled to him like it was a life preserver.
