Soooo .. just tried first time ever this famous/infamous Buckfast wine from Buckfast Abbey .. FIRST impression : "poor" .. Being something "made in abbey by monks" I was expecting "something a bit more complex" with maybe some secret mixture of herbs giving it some "qualities" .. Instead .. it's like someone mixed some poor wine with some crap coffee and some minty mouthwash and LOT of sugar. It's .. BLAND .. yes alcoholic sure (15% ) but nowhere near as expectations.
@gilesgoat There is a reason it’s called “wreck the hoose juice” up here in Glasgow.
@jamesthomson When you name "abbey" .. "made by monks" .. "ancient recipe" or such .. "the expectations are high" of something with a someway "exotic taste" .. This instead is really "one of the shittest things I ever tasted" .. I mean .. it's BLAND, uninspiring .. "something you could mix at home with those mentioned ingredients" .. It really even leaves not a very good taste in the mouth .. At this point I can see those Finnish recipes with 100% alchool and mints.
@gilesgoat Yeah, the reputation here is basically “cheap way to get drunk quickly”. It seems to me that alcohol and caffeine is a bad mix generally!
