When there is an administrative mistake, punish the victim.

First, a man is illegally deported:

Now a university is losing grant money and maybe tax exempt status:

Since being an abuser is a prereq in this White House, it makes sense?

An ‘administrative error’ sent Maryland man to an El Salvador prison, ICE says

President Donald Trump's administration has acknowledged mistakenly deporting a Maryland man with protected legal status to a notorious El Salvador prison. But the administration is arguing against returning him to the United States because of alleged gang times and the government's lack of power over the Central American nation. Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia was arrested last month and sent to the Terrorism Confinement Center in his home country despite an immigration judge's 2019 ruling that he not be deported there. His attorneys say he has no gang ties and say the U.S. government has not produced evidence to support that claim.

Given the US brain drain (https://www.npr.org/2025/04/18/nx-s1-5368132/us-researchers-scientists-apply-french-university-program), censorship for those who stay (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kevin-hall-rfk-jr-ultra-processed-food-nih-censorship/), and political decisions that lead to things like the staggering cost per patient for just the measles outbreak (https://arstechnica.com/health/2025/04/each-measles-case-in-raging-outbreak-costs-up-to-50000-cdc-official-says/), Trump clearly hates competence as much as empathy in his lackeys.

@aardrian France is eyeing strongly at your scientists with a call from the President and a dedicated platform "Choose France for Science" - whose ugly design is so coming straight from the early 2000s, you can sense the urgency in your bones (with mailto links in non focusable span 😭😭).
"Choose France for Web Design"... we obviously need help 🙄

Snark aside, the situation in U.S. is nothing short of terrifying.
It's shot in the foot after another.

@fedbysandrine Oh my, that is an unfortunate design. I’m not a scientist and it makes *me* want to apply just to fix it.

And yeah, I can confirm it’s terrifying over here.

@aardrian I'd like to find words of encouragements but they all sound with the same resonating void than "thoughts and prayers" and "hang in there" 😩
@fedbysandrine Yeah, mostly my words of encouragement are “punch nazis”.
