Can we please stop giving liberals an out for willingly participating in and supporting fascist policies? They are not "playing into" the hands of anyone; they are doing it with great intention.

At minimum, liberals support nationalist policies and capitalist policies. Both of these policy categories support fascism.

You cannot "unintentionally" do something that supports fascism while intentionally doing the thing that people are openly criticising you for doing -because- it supports fascist shit.

Make them equally as responsible as the right-wing. They do not get to escape this.

@whatanerd agree... and i think where it gets a bit nuanced (not in a liberal weaponizing that word way!) is that political ideologies within the bounds of the state are not a binary/trinary.. there's slippage. so there are a lot of democratic socialist who to me are liberal af. so yeah they dont like capitalism but other than that they love the settler state and its institution for the most part.

@joyfulcarla Living where I do, "democratic socialist" tends to have a lot of overlap with "social democrat." It's also why I have a lot of fun when DSA members look at elections in other parts of the world, tell me that we "voted for a social democrat" and that I "should be very happy" because it means we "have a left-wing government."

Even though they very clearly tend to lean very heavily on uh... a range of far-right ideologies and working with (and therefore being) Nazis.

Also, I very much enjoy their vocal dislike of capitalism while still maintaining a strong support for it.
