I sat down to take apart my Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra the other day to replace the FlexiArm side brush. It had stopped spinning which really inhibits the cleaning coverage. Kudos to whoever wrote this teardown guide at iFixIt.

Sadly the components are not as modular as the iRobot robots. Each component has a long connector cable that snakes back up to the main board, meaning you have to disassemble the entire top of the unit to disconnect the part you actually want to replace. It would be so nice to have proper modular interconnects with each module where it slots in.

I had a laugh at the "Ultron" wifi board. Surely they picked that name purposely.

I also noticed the motor for the extractor bars had some smokey discoloration on the white plastic around it. It wiped off with a cloth fine. The motor must have been under stress, I guess when items have gotten stuck in the bars.

Thankfully the operation was a success. I managed to get the robot back together without issue and the new side brush works fine.
