We've moved to Codeberg!
Very much looking forward to becoming part of the vibrant community there.

question about this move.
you didn't move from github (proprietary and Microsoft owned) to gitlab (FOSS/proprietary).
you moved from gitlab to codeberg.
what was the reasons?
was the FOSS version of gitlab subpar?
was gitlab too complicated or slow (my own perception).
by the way if the reason was the semi opensource nature of gitlab, if codeberg goes the same way (foss to foss/proprietary) would you move again?
Oh.
I was ready to be bombarded with technical jargon that I had to pretend to understand.
BTW does codeberg has any federation ability?
Or ease of export import of whole data?
I wouldn't want to be locked in.
@rezad I don't know much about it. https://nlnet.nl/project/Federated-Forgejo/
@rezad
Federation is WIP, but will take a long time to be really convenient and properly usable. However, we aim at delivering a few first useful features soon.
You can find recent updates in the newsletters, e.g. https://forgejo.org/2025-02-monthly-update/#federation and https://forgejo.org/2025-01-monthly-update/#federation. Also take a look at the linked roadmap at https://codeberg.org/forgejo-contrib/federation/src/branch/main/FederationRoadmap.md.
I read that the app is self hosted. So i can install it on my own.
But what I asked is if I use for example your instance for my project then want to move to another instance, can I do that with complete(almost complete) export import?
@rezad
You can migrate user accounts: Forgejo allows to import repositories.
However, it relies on the other side to do the import. There is currently no proper "export" feature.
