Played an ocean conservation board-game yesterday where the core mechanic was taking your equipment to specific locations to take exclusive control of 'conservaton sites' for tech upgrades. We were muddling away until one of us realised that proposed narrative aside, mechanically, what we were really doing was closer to fracking. Made the game much more fun, but I don't think it was the intended takeaway.
One of the upgrades was literally the ability to do the drainage thing Daniel Day Lewis did to Paul Dano in There Will Be Blood.
How it feels to save all of the turtles before anyone else can, so I can get an extra submarine and better "conservation" specialists for my "research" team.
