Randomly watched #SmokeyAndTheBandit last night, and boy, does it seem very relevant for our time. Nice to see a story about some individuals resisting an oppressive government policy and using collective action to foil the petty and incompetent police who are unlawfully exceeding their jurisdiction in order to carry out personal vendettas.
Plus the song still slaps:
Alternatively, #SmokeyAndTheBandit can be viewed as a pair of wealthy billionaires undermining the public health by importing unpasteurized beer, toying with the working class by luring them with bets instead of actual jobs, and endangering the public by having their drivers go 100 mph with no sleep breaks.
However, that also seems just as relevant to the current state of the affairs as the positive interpretation.
