The top 7 donors gave over $1bil to Trump. This is how an oligarchy entrenches itself in a democracy.

@georgetakei

Temporarily pretending to be a Democrat to run for mayor of New York City because he knows he has no chance as a Republican does not make Michael Bloomberg "solidly liberal"

@StormyDragon I think the colors are based on who they donated to, not the individual's stated politics.
@georgetakei You know, I remember in my πŸ‡²πŸ‡½ forbidding donors from corporations and rich people to any party since 30 years ago. The democratic parties (some right, some left) fight for balancing elections and zero intervention. Nowadays, today is almost like this kind of 'donors'
@georgetakei
Micheal Bloomberg?
Disappointing.
@[email protected] @georgetakei That he donated to the Democrats? (That list is all donors, not just those giving to Republicans.)
@georgetakei Can we find out what they’re invested in, and collectively boycott the shit out of companies whose stock they hold?
@georgetakei Now we need to know what businesses they all own so we can boycott them.

@georgetakei

When single donors are donating over 100 million dollars and campaigns are allowed to spend that much is it even a democracy anymore ?

@georgetakei In developing countries like Kenya and Nigeria, presidential candidates are financed by foreign corporates and billionaires. What is the name of the system? imperialism?
@JonathanMBR @georgetakei another question is why is this a problem now, and not a systematic problem that is a real danger for democracy everywhere, but especially for usa where there's practically only two parties to choose from?
@georgetakei Clearly some folks need to be paying a higher tax bracket!
