I noticed that someone added xtool creative space to the AUR, so I definitely wanted to try that out. It comes close to working entirely. I can lay things out, auto-measure materials, do all the editing XCS provides, track the laser position... but it's not able to actually send the file to the laser for processing  I can just upload the file and start it on my phone, so at least there's that
