Trump announces 'permanent' tariffs on foreign cars - feddit.org

Lemmy

Still not buying American trash cars. Of all the vehicles I’ve ever owned, American cars were by far the worst. I’ll stick to my Japanese autos thank you very much. They know how to make a reliable car that punches above its class. I don’t give two shits if I have to pay a tariff.
A lot of Japanese cars are made in the US.
You know what cars aren’t manufactured in the USMC American cars. I drive a fusion and the only part I could find that wasn’t made in Mexico was the radio.
Yup, that’s why I avoid them too. My current car was made with quality and care in Japan, as will my next car.
Yeah, and because of NAFTA to build a car, parts were going across the border multiple times back and forth. So with tariffs that can increase the price much more.
Is the tariff on cars, or parts? Or have they not figured that part out yet?
It’s on both, but just learned that apparently it won’t impact the parts that going back and forth across the border. It looks like those additional tariffs are still planned on April 2nd.
Hyundai and Kia are Korean
Yeah, you’re correct.
