I'm going to remind people that the u.s. government was disappearing Muslims in the years right after 9/11 without recourse to courts or contact with family. The feds were apprehending people on vague suspicions that they were connected with "terrorism."

This isn't the first time this stuff has happened.

Also, people were being put on no-fly lists because they were outspoken in their opposition to the Bush administration's hateful foreign policy after 9/11 as well.

If you were on that list, you couldn't board an airplane. It was difficult to travel if your name was on that list.

This kind of fascist fuckery has been with us for a while.

@timberwraith

The Patriot Act was full of this fascist bullshit. But people are going to act like it's all just this orange guy's fault somehow as if the 4th and 14th amendments weren't already shredded a couple decades ago.

@violetmadder @timberwraith
As soon as you realize this you start to understand why democratic voters stayed home on election day.
I assume they thought a quick death to democracy rather than a long slow slide
@violetmadder @timberwraith
Nonetheless, we are given new opportunities to raise the concerns to more folks and work to put a stop to it now. Just because it existed before doesn't mean we shouldn't call all the attention to it now.

@jaykass @timberwraith

We have to scream it all from the fucking rooftops, until people realize what we're really up against. Getting rid of the orange guy won't be enough to save us. He's just one particularly vile (and overt, and noisy) piece of this systemic planetwrecking corruption.

@violetmadder @timberwraith
Oh, absolutely. This didn't just become an issue in the past 2 months. It's just amplified.
@violetmadder @timberwraith That country was broken decades before that bloated fool won in 2016. Party apologists of any sort are nauseating. I’m all for hating on Trump, but diehard Democrats need to abandon ship in come up with much better ideas than capitalism with a smiley emoji. Anything other than “change” and “yes we can.”

@violetmadder @timberwraith

Bush/Cheney, were very busy...

@Bssr4 @timberwraith

So was Clinton. And Obama. And EVERY other administration since JFK was killed.
